Total Count always reseting

I am running a setup to count the revolutions of a ferraris disc to monitor my power usage. However I have a lot of problems with it.
I always count a lot less mAh than the meter.
I initially used the count to add up increments in my ioBroker setup but recently switched to using the total value and work with it because I believed it would be better to use it in case of connection loss.
However this did not fix the problem, I tried monitoring the total value in iobroker and noticed, that the total value is reset very often although I did not cut power or anything. Nor does it reach its maximum value.
I believed it only starts over when the maximum of the data type has been reacherd or the power has been cut.
Whats wrong here?
