Nodo 868 RFLink & TFA IT transmitter

#1 Post by bNIT » 29 Dec 2023, 14:14

Hello,

New here, thank you for this board :)

So, I bought the Nodo 868.3 MHz RFLink Gateway :
https://www.nodo-shop.nl/en/rflink-/168 ... kabel.html
With soldering service, so that everything is made properly.
It runs firmware 1.1 R50.

I also bought TFA Temperature/humidity Transmitter 30.3180 (especially for its precision Sensirion SHT30 sensor) :
https://www.tfa-dostmann.de/en/product/ ... r-30-3180/
Transmission frequency is 868 MHz as per its technical data, also as per its instruction manual (every 10 seconds).

Perfect.

When I use RFLink Loader in Serial Port Logging mode, Debug on, I see DEBUG Pulses lines from time to time.
Seems then my RFLink Gateway receives "things". I even captured a door bell :)

But no line seems to correspond to my TFA transmitter :|
Its transmission icons blinks every 10 seconds, but the Arduino LED does not blink at the same time / does not blink at all.
And of course no corresponding debug line showing at the same time in RFLink Loader.

I tried many things such as :
- flashing the RFLink firmware again
- playing with the TFA transmitter batteries
- replacing Nodo antenna with a 86mm wire
- tested both R48 and R50 firmwares

But I can't manage to have a RFLink debug line every 10 seconds...

Did I miss something ?

Thank you very much for your help !

I have not seen any reports on TFA 30.3180, so it is probably not supported..

Thank you Stuntteam for your reply.
TFA 30.3180 is not in the supported devices list, you're right.
But I thought I should at least see its raw / debug data flooding through RFLink Loader debugger ?
And next step would have been to understand / decode this raw data, so that RFLink Firmware could support it (i.e. translate this data to human readable values).
Or did I perhaps miss something here ?
Thank you again !

Edit : even the RFUDEBUG=ON does not help.

Digging into this, I think I have interesting info.

This TFA transmitter is part of so called IT transmitters :
https://www.tfa-dostmann.de/en/produkte ... nsmitters/

These IT transmitters use a well-documented protocol, TX29 :
http://fredboboss.free.fr/articles/tx29.php

It runs at 868.3 MHz, using OOK modulation.
Should then be properly supported by Nodo module linked above (which uses Aurel RTX-MID-868-OOK).

What I then understand is that this TX29 protocol is not implemented in RFLink firmware yet.
Am I right ?
That said, I still do not understand why I do not see the raw / debug pulses lines in RFLink Loader.

Stuntteam, any change to have TX29 supported, based on the above protocol documentation ?
Would add a nice range of 868 transmitters to the list.

I can send you my TFA 30.3180 device if you want :)

Thank you again for your help !

Unsupported devices should show debug data if they use the same frequency and modulation type of the used receiver hardware module.
Additionally they need to be within the ranges of accepted pulse length.
I have some question marks around the modulation type, it might not use ASK/OOK but rather use FSK for the IT line.

Thank you very much for these details, makes sense, it's now more clear :)
I then could perhaps get a Aurel RTX-MID-868-FSK module, and give it a try.

The FSK module is apparently no more available.
So, for now, there's no solution for TFA IT transmitters with RFLink.
Let's go for other sensors :)
