Let's Control It

does anyone have any experience using the RFLink for putting codes into universal remotes as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Universal ... Sw9r1V-TbO
I can program a key, but when I "play" it back the RFLink either can decode it, or it changes types from time to time.

seem like the keyfob is quite sensitive how long the button is being pressed. (the learned code is "20;58;Chuango;ID=800081;SWITCH=02;CMD=ON;" - send by the RFLink,

A short press followed by a longer press gives this debug output;

Any ideas of what to do - how to transfer a consistent code, or to decode i the same all the time...?
How is the code transmitted from the RFLink - how many repeats etc..?

Hi I have a bunch of those keyfobs in use and they always report correctly for me. Mine are programmed as Tristate and typically send the following -

20;13;TriState;ID=8a2aa4;SWITCH=10;CMD=ON;
20;25;TriState;ID=8a2aa4;SWITCH=10;CMD=OFF;

When they are brand new and unprogrammed they seem to send from these makes but always the same ID etc.

20;50;Chuango;ID=ece9d7;SWITCH=02;CMD=ON;
20;49;Eurodomest;ID=420841;SWITCH=00;CMD=ON;

Perhaps you could try putting them into programming mode and sending something like

10;TriState;8809a0;10;On;

I'm running my RFLink on Linux so can achieve that with the simple command -
echo "10;TriState;8809a0;10;OFF;" >/dev/ttyACM0

sounds very much like what I'm seeing - will try the Tristate command, when I get off work.

well it works better, but still not 100% - I can not get it to pair all the different buttons.
Guess it is the remote that has the problem - anyone that can recommend a different remote. It has to be small and cheap - I plan to strip it from the case, and build it into a standard wall socket.

Hi again,

another update - seems the key fob I have just needs to be treated somewhat special.
If I start sending "10;Eurodomest;000001;00;OFF:" multiple times before pressing the button that should learn the code, then it picks up the frame.
Go figure....

Unfortunately these remotes are not of good quality and apparantly often (badly) cloned in Asia...
