Re: Solved: DC44 PIR units not acting as DC4's

#4 Post by hansolouk » 18 Jul 2022, 13:23

HI, I have a similar issue when using RFLINK and Home Assistant.
I seem to get my Friedland DC44 give off several events. RFLINK detects but for a PIR device with identifier XYZ I get "friedland_XYZ_22", "friedland_XYZ_42" & "friedland_XYZ_62". I want to use the PIR as a binary sensor but I do not know which event to trigger off and there is no obvious pattern as I get multiple events triggering etc.
Any help on someone who has configured the DC44 would be very much appreciated?

I am using RFLINK on 1.48.

Cheers
A

That seems to be related to the Home Assistant implementation..

Re: Solved: DC44 PIR units not acting as DC4's

Sorry I am not sure I explained the problem clearly as the problem is with RFLINK
IN RFLINK I get numerous triggers from my PIR.
Friedland;ID=1472f4;SWITCH=22;CMD=ON;
Friedland;ID=1472f4;SWITCH=42;CMD=ON;
Friedland;ID=1472f4;SWITCH=62;CMD=ON;

I do not know what each of those switches (22, 42, 62) equates too. I was expecting just a couple. One for PIR trigger and one for maybe battery/alive. Unfortunately I have no reference neither whereas with all my other 433Mhz devices I have managed to work it out. There seems to be no correlation with the switches and PIR trigger (red light turns on). In some cases I get a 22, in some a 42 in some both. Also in other cases I get a 22 or 42 without a PIR trigger. I suspect a combination of these switches equates to an actual trigger but I am a bit lost as my trial and error did not work.

I also thought it was the sensors so I bought more but same problem (obviously with each having a unique ID). I then thought maybe noise on the 433 channel but I do not see that on the debug log or with my multitude of other 433 sensors.

Any help would be appreciated else I may chuck them and buy a different set :-)

If all triggers are movement from the PIR sensor, you can configure in HA the entities as alias of the same device. This is something common in RFLink integration.
It would be something like:

Code: Select all

binary_sensor:
  - platform: rflink
    devices:
      friedland_1472f4_22:
        name: my PIR sensor
        device_class: motion
        off_delay: 5
        aliases:
          - friedland_1472f4_42
          - friedland_1472f4_62

Many many thank for your reply. the aliases really helped but I did a bit more digging to see what was going on.

The DC4 has to be at a height of about 2 M to work effectively and as usual away from any heat sources like radiators and windows etc.

Furthermore it appears the device sends 2/3 signals in succession to RFLInk when triggered and then goes into standby for 2 minutes (this is what was confusing me). Therefore the usual off-delay in home assistant does not work. When I have time I will come up with an automation in home assistant so it triggers correctly but as always RFlink is working fine :-) A single signal in rflink usually indicates a false trigger from the pir.

Hope this helps someone trying to configure these cheap PIRs with RFlink and any home automation system as it was driving me mad :-)

Thank you for your help regardless.
