Hmmm....both GPIO 1 and 2 needs to be up when booting, and as far as I can read there is no pull down function on ESP-1 ?
how does one connect a normally closed switch to it?

One RES to the input and the other end of the RES to GND, then one site of the switch to the RES(Input) and the other to 3V3.

but would that not cause the resistor to become a voltage divider combined with the pull up resistor that I understand is built-in to most GPIO on ESP8266 ?
does unclicking the "Pull up" in tasks disable the pull-up for the GPIO? or can I use "Pin mode x Select an optional boot state for this pin, either output low or high" to force GPIO 1&2 to be up until it has finished booting?
