WT32-ETH01 with ESP_Easy_mega_20210615_custom_ESP32_4M316k_ETH

#1 Post by edstobi » 12 Oct 2021, 13:54

Hello
I am using a WT32-ETH01 with ESP_Easy_mega_20210615_custom_ESP32_4M316k_ETH.
Since at this ESP lokation my WIFI signal is very weak to non-existent, depending on weather conditions. Therfor I have the esp connected via TCPI network kable. In the network overview the ESP always indicates WIFI as network type and the system variables %ethconnected% = DISCONNECTED, %ethwifimode% = WiFi and the %ip% the WIFI IP address.
I can ping wifi and eth01. Can I tell the module that the primary connection is only the ETH01 network and that it is not constantly trying to use the wifi network?
This is not what I want for a good performance . The module had to be restarted 15 minutes ago because it had hung up.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

On the Hardware tab, you can set the "Preferred network medium" to Ethernet.
Then as long as the unit remains connected to the network, the ESP will not try to connect via WiFi.

Make sure to also have "Periodical Scan WiFi" unchecked on the tools->Advanced page (not sure if that option was already present in your build)

In the past we had an issue with the Ethernet connection, where the ESP may only detect ethernet events only once.
So if a cable got disconnected, it would not see a new "connected" event on the ethernet port until it rebooted.
I can make a new build for you based on the latest code base, so you can check for yourself if that's still an issue with your board.
Or if you're not using a password on the web UI, you can try the last nightly build from about a week ago.

Thank you for this valuable information.
Preferred network medium" to Ethernet I had already set, but Periodical Scan WiFi was still set, this hook I have taken out.
I have already noticed that with the connect and then the esp hard reset.
I will watch it now and if the esp again appears as unreachable I will make the update.

Which build are you now using?
Or did you make a build based on the latest code base in the mega branch?
