HLW8012 breakout board no values

#1 Post by ulfh2018 » 15 Aug 2021, 10:04

I have tried to configure a HWL8012 breakoutboard, as shown in the attacment, but though I have looked in a lot of the posts, I have so far not found a solution that works.

I am using SON_OFF_POW_4M1M.bin and the factory reset with Sonoff POW-r2, and where I use the following settings:

SEL D1
CF1 D7
CF D5
And the rest is the default settings.

I can see the power increasing when I turn on a load, but no reading for voltage and current.

I am sure there is something I am missing, but I don't know what.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Best regards

Ulf

The HLW8012 does also need some calibration values, which are quite high values.
Those are pre-set on the Sonoff POW units, but perhaps they are not on your module?
N.B. these may differ per unit, as they relate to the used shut resistance and other parts used on the board.

The values on my POW R1 module:
Current multiplier: 14484.49
Voltage multiplier: 449695.66
Power multiplier: 10343612.00

Also make sure the custom pin settings (SEL Current (A) Reading and CF1/CF int edge) values are properly set for your board.
These may differ from Sonoff POW boards.

It looks like I had to low voltage input to the breakout board, was jus 4.2 volt. After adjusting to 5 volt, I now get the readings I’m looking for, though I definitely have to do some calibration :D
