Can you give a schematic of the board?

I cannot see what chip is being used to control the relais.
They used an ESP-01 module, which only exposes a limited number of GPIO-pins.
So the SMD chip next to the green power socket must be doing something, but I don't see what chip it is.
This makes it really hard to tell what may be going on here.

I think it's a NUVOTON 8 bit 8051 compatible microcontroller

That's a microcontroller running its own program.
Without knowing what it is running, it is near impossible to tell you what's going on here without thorough investigation using a logic analyzer.

Suggestion ... start here:

http://www.chinalctech.com/cpzx/Programmer/427.html
Install APP "EspTouch_Demo" android version to configure wifi account and password for ESP-01 module on the first time of mode 2
30+ ESP units for production and test. Ranging from control of heating equipment, flow sensing, floor temp sensing, energy calculation, floor thermostat, water usage, to an interactive "fun box" for my grandson. Mainly Wemos D1.

It is a standard 4 channel Serial MCU controlled relay/switch, can be used with ESPEasy and P165 plugin. (If the NUVOTON has its standard program)

Check that switch is really working. In my case was the opposite. Never got the blue led, until I bypass the switch. Maybe yours is short circuit....

I think you need to reset it.
remove power
press the S2 button and keep pressed
add power to the module

and then do not press again the S1. I did this also accidentally once and hat the same pain as you :D
