Thanks for responding, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing something silly...
It shouldn't normally be a problem.

mqtt cpu load
Easy_5 mqtt bad.jpg ESP_Easy_5 mqtt ok.jpg Hello, I'm using an esp-32s3 flashed with 20230601 - Mega32-s3. I'm attempting to use mqtt to send a switch state, and it works fine. However, if the remote Broker is offline when the esp boots, the load goes to 100% if the mqtt controller is enabled. Also...

Hmm...I copied your settings, and lo and behold.... * ESP_Easy_NRG.jpg And the display works nicely as well, thanks for all your work! I intend to use it with Node-Red as a mains Brownout/Blackout detector to shut down various gizmos running on UPS when the mains power fails. (This happens several t...

CSE7759B Power Sensor
Hello, a recently-purchased Sonoff POWR316D Elite uses a CSE7759B power sensor chip. This seems to be incompatible with the CSE7766 plugin. I tried various combinations of Serial ports, and disabled the Serial console, but no go. I am I missing something? (Using ESP_Easy_mega_20230623_energy_ESP32_4...

Re: Wiegand keypad
RFID2.jpg This is what ended up getting built, with a Wemos D1 piggybacked to the rear of the reader. I used the Wemos because it runs on 12V like the Reader. On the other side of the wall is the PSU, which includes a 12v 1.2 Ah battery for backup and a big power transistor to energize a door strik...

Re: Wiegand keypad
Putting my money where my mouth is: . Wiegand.png . I decided to test this, so hooked up a Wemos D1 using resistive dividers (2K2/3K3) on the data lines, and it worked, reading tag IDs correctly. . Another divider was used to scale down the relay switched 12V output, and this was connected to GPIO12...

Re: Wiegand keypad
I just bought a couple of these for simple door openers, so stuck a scope on those outputs.
The signals are TTL (5V) inverted logic. You need to knock them down to 3.3 volts either using level converters or resistive dividers.

Re: ESP-32-Eth01 - killing wifi when no ethernet connected
Sorry to be so unclear, hopefully the pic helps. Since this PiCorePlayer works over wifi, the esp-32's own wifi interfered with it.
All I am doing is disabling the esp's wifi using a loopback plug to make it believe that it has an ethernet connection.

ESP-32-Eth01 - killing wifi when no ethernet connected
I have an ESP-32-ETH01 controlling a Raspberry Pi that communicates over wifi. The ESP doesn't need to be remotely connected, and its wifi interferes with the Pi's own wifi. As a test, I used an ethernet loopback connector to fool the esp into disabling its wifi. So far it seems to be working OK, bu...

Ethernet boards and PoE
Having now zapped the ethernet circuits on two w32-eth01s when powering via a PoE adaptor, I found the following info from Olimex , which also applies to these cheaper devices: Important notice: ESP32-POE has no galvano isolation from Ethernet's power supply, when you program the board via the micro...

Re: How to flash an LED as mailbox notification and use sleep mode?
Not right now, but I am working on cleaning up the WiFi/network state machine. When this is done, you can also have the "WiFi off" state. I have a situation where an esp-32 is controlling another wifi device, and they interfere with each other, so having the option to shut down the wifi w...

Re: Seeking Home Automation Advice
fwiw here's my experience. I decided on ZWave around 5 years ago to mostly control exterior lighting circuits in an extended property, and have around 25 single and dual relays controlling around 90 individual lights. In a country (Chile) with even more seismic problems than most I didn't even consi...

Re: Espeasy compatible unit with wired ethernet?
Any particular reason you are using the Custom build? as it only has a small set of plugins available (and the exact configuration isn't even documented on the Plugins page, as it is different for ESP32 and ESP8266). No, it was just the first one visible in the drop-down bin file list. ;) I will up...

Re: Espeasy compatible unit with wired ethernet?
Used the expressif tool with ESP_Easy_mega_20211105_custom_ESP32_4M316k_ETH-factory.bin, then used the webpage to update to ESP_Easy_mega_20211105_custom_ESP32_4M316k_ETH.bin. Did have problems trying to use GPIO39 as a switch input, seemed to be erratic even with a hardwired pullup resistor, but ot...

Re: Espeasy compatible unit with wired ethernet?
OK, I flashed a second unit with the factory ethernet image using the expressif tool with an offset of 0x0000, and it worked. Then used the webpage updater as before. The only difference was that with the second unit, the gpio0 short was removed a couple of seconds after powering up. Both working OK...

Re: Espeasy compatible unit with wired ethernet?
fwiw I just got one of these working using the expressif flash download tool. Then did the update from the Tools/Update Firmware page. I had flashed using an offset of 0x1000 which is wrong for a factory image, the offset should be 0x0000. (Removed a possibly misleading pic showing the flash tool im...

Re: temporarily disable a switch input
Thanks, ThomasB for the speedy reply, which indeed fixed that problem. It didn't work straight away though, the logs showed this message: Command unknown: 'elseif' I guess this is a quirk of the mega-20190216 firmware I'm using. That's the most recent version that I could get to work with this Wemos...

temporarily disable a switch input
Hi, I 'm using a Wemos device to control a raspberry pi to power it off correctly. It works OK, for shutdown a pushbutton long press generates a 500mS pulse to the Pi's GPIO3 which halts the pi OS Then 15 Secs later, the Pi's power is disconnected after it has fully shut down. The only problem comes...

Re: getting a piezo louder using 2 GPIOs?
I don't think paralleling GPIOs would do much apart from possibly providing more drive current, which at most would give 3dB more audio output. The outputs themselves are either 3.3v or ground, so differential drive isn't possible, anyway I believe those piezo sounders are polarized. Instead, use th...

Re: Analog Input
That's not going to work, all the pot is doing is putting resistance in series with the ground, which probably has quite a high impedance. The pot needs to be connected between the voltage source and 0v with the traveller connected to A0.

Re: TSL2561 overexposed ?
My experience with this sensor is mixed. Firstly it saturates at around 37KLux, and Esp-Easy stops outputting values. So it can't be situated in direct sunlight. For me that wasn't important as I use it to determine Sunset lux levels. But the IR saturation behaviour mentioned here shouldn't be happe...
