I think you are already at the "optimal" settings for what can be tweaked in ESPEasy. One thing you can do, is set "extra WiFi scan loops" to 1 to test if it will see more nodes. The scan period per channel is rather short. It seems to switch to a new channel as soon as a few APs...

"20111" is not really the version of the software. More like the "revision" of the settings file.

Please tell the build file name (shown on the sysinfo page)

Would be nice if you can later also give the diff of both CSS's, so we can "patch" the values to switch between normal and dark mode theme without the need to include 2 full CSS files.

There are also Dallas sensors sold which are packaged in "waterproof" enclosures. (also at AliExpress etc.)
One problem still may be that those are often RVS and I'm not sure how well that may last in slightly acidic soil.

Without trying on ESP8266, I can see it is very likely only related to ESP32 builds. When I switch the ESP32 SDK to the PlatformIO platform: platform = espressif32 @ 3.3.1 It does allow login. But that version is extremely unstable on WiFi response. Will look into it tomorrow and make a fix.

Some USB to serial chips are not recognized in this flasher.
You can use Espressif's flasher, which is also included in the zip.

You can also leave the bottom open.
And slightly higher temperature will automatically lead to lower (relative) humidity.
Still, bad quality is impossible to turn into "good quality" by these measures.

OK, I will try to reproduce it.
I don't think it makes a difference whether it is ESP32 or ESP8266, since you're not using Ethernet.

Does your password have any special characters?
Or maybe a length close to what could be the max. of the field length? (what length does your password have?)

The RX pin on the ESP module is for the ESP to receive data.
You should check the TX pin on the ESP module (connected to the RX of your device that's trying to read data)

Decrease in efficiency can be explained by reflection of the plastics and probably also higher temperature inside the box.
Typically the efficiency drops by 0.5% per degree C.
Losses due to reflection are a lot harder to predict as it also depends on the wavelength etc.

If you can access the serial (and have not disabled serial) you can clear the password to regain access.

Better use the pulsecounter for this, as rules parsing does take quite some time.
The pulsecounter can be set to send an event once a second, which is doable for rules parsing.

Also to tune it, place the most frequently occuring event at the start of the 1st rules file.

Are you able to access the /tools URL (and thus OTA downgrade to the previous build)
Can you also try another browser? (or incognito mode, to make sure there isn't a session active or taken)

Just one remark.
Since Thomas suggests a pull-down resistor, you cannot connect this to GPIO-0 or -2.
Those need to be high at boot.

As far as I know, delamination is caused by bad manufacturing. What makes it worse is when moist and dirt can creep in. So you could place it behind some glass frame which you seal yourself.
